Starting on February 9, 2019, airlines under Sriwijaya Air, Nam Air will expand its flight network by opening two new routes in the domestic region. The new route is Surabaya - Samarinda PP and Banjarmasin - Samarinda PP.
Flight Surabaya - Samarinda PP will be served by using a Boeing 737-500 fleet. The flight schedule is departed at 09.55 WIB and will arrive at Samarinda at 12:25 WITA. As for the default flight, departing from Samarinda at 12.55 WITA and will arrive back in Surabaya at 13.25 WIB. This new flight route is connected to several other routes. Among them are flights to Denpasar and Bandung which are served by Sriwijaya Air.
On the other hand, the new flight route Banjarmasin - Samarinda PP will depart at 10.20 WITA and is scheduled to arrive at Samarinda at 11:40 WITA. Whereas the reverse flight will be flown at 12.00 WITA from Samarinda and will arrive back in Banjarmasin at 13.20 WITA. This flight will be served using NAM Air's ATR 72-600 aircraft and connected to the flight to Sampit via Banjarmasin.
Sriwijaya Air Group's Vice President of Corporate Secretary & Legal said the presence of NAM Air is expected to encourage acceleration of regional development opportunities and the development of new economic zones in the East Kalimantan region where the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is currently focusing on the development of eight industrial zones in the region.
"Our industrial potential and economic development in East Kalimantan are very promising, especially with the launch of the Pranoto APT Airport in October last year which will certainly increase business movements and people's mobility in them." Maya said.
