The Sriwijaya Air Group airline also enlivened the celebration of National Batik Day which falls every October 2nd. On this occasion, all employees and employees of Sriwijaya Air Group throughout Indonesia from Medan to Merauke use clothing with batik nuances.
Sriwijaya Air Group's Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Retri Maya revealed that this policy is an appreciation and a commitment from Sriwijaya Air Group as one of the nation's subsidiaries in maintaining the noble values and cultural diversity reflected in the archipelago's unique batik.
"Sriwijaya Air Group realizes that batik is a national heritage that must be popularized by all levels of society," Maya said.
As is known, batik has been registered representative of the United Nations of Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2009 as a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Non-Cultural Culture (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity). Determination of October 2 as National Batik Day itself is listed in Presidential Decree No. 33 of 2009. This effort became the final struggle for Indonesia because previously batik was often claimed as belonging to several neighboring countries.
Maya said that this National Batik Day was the right time for all Indonesian citizens to show their love for Indonesian Culture.
"Thank you for being enthusiastic in commemorating this National Batik Day. Hopefully, through this celebration the entire Sriwijaya Air Group's extended family can spread their enthusiasm and love for batik as Indonesia's original heritage, "concluded Maya.
